Prof. Mahabir Singh Rawat has joined the administration as the Vice Chancellor w.e.f 8 December 2022. He has held many esteemed positions at the university as the Exam Controller and the Registrar. He is also the Principal of the Pt. Lalit Mohan Sharma, Sri Dev Suman Uttrakhand Vishwavidhyalaya Campus, Rishikesh. In his 28 years of teaching experience, he taught graduates and post-graduates and supervised Ph.D. fellows.
National Institute of Technology Uttrakhand is situated on the way between Chamba and New Tehri at a distance of 3 km from Chamba, one of the brightest spots of district Tehri Garhwal, at an elevation of 1676 m from sea level. This town, situated on Delhi-Gangotri national highway, offers one of the most spectacular view of snow capped Himalaya and enchanting Bhagirathi Valley. The university campus is situated at an elevation of 1750 m on a ridge facing to the east, surrounded by dense oak and pine tree forest.

There’s safe and modern accommodation available for students on-campus hostels and off-campus hostels. Hostel facilities are inclusive of safe environment in innumerable residence halls, dining service with nutritious and sustainable meals. The hostels have the capacity to comfortably accommodate over 2500 students. Every effort is made to provide the hostellers homely ambience.
